Music has definitely been in the air at Ranelagh
throughout the spring term!
To start off our celebration of music we welcomed back Jim Bernadin from the ‘World Music Workshop’. This was Jim’s 2nd visit, last year he wowed us with his Samba workshop and this year he blew us away with the relaxing and rhythmic sounds of the Caribbean, introducing us to the steel pans. Once again all children from Nursery to year 6 had the opportunity to explore and experience playing these instruments, even some of the teachers gave it a go making their very own steel band!
30th Celebration of Schools Music.
We are proud to say we had the ultimate privilege of being part of a very select group of schools to take part in the 30th Celebration of School’s Music. Only 35 schools were chosen out of all of Suffolk to perform at Snape Maltings, one of ‘the world’s leading centres of music’. All children from years 4, 5 and 6 took part to show case the range of experiences and opportunities that are available to them through the schools music curriculum – where all children in KS2 play a range of instruments and can choose extra-curricular activities such as Hip-Hop, recorders and guitars.
We had such a fantastic day and the children were absolutely amazing and not only were their talents praised but their behaviour and manners were also held in high regard too!
Year 3 singing workshop
Following up from our visit to Snape, some of the singing coaches came in to work with Year 3 for an afternoon. They learnt some vocal warm-ups and then a selection of songs which they performed for the rest of the school at the end of the day, even gracing us with some Opera!
