Welcome to the Wrens' Class
Welcome to the Wrens class!
This year, your teachers will be:
Miss Felgate (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday)
Mrs Hunter (Wednesday, Thursday, Friday)
Autumn 1
In Maths, we will be working hard on 'Place Value' and 'Addition & Subtraction' using our White Rose schemes of work. We will use lots of hands on manipulatives to develop our understanding and really secure our number knowledge to 20- including forming these numbers.
This term in English, we will be starting a new scheme for writing called ‘Ready, Steady, Write!’. We can’t wait to explore some lovely new texts and develop our writing for different purposes using capital letters, finger spaces, full stops, our phonics to segment words and learn new grammar rules such as -s and -es suffix.
During our Science lessons, we will be looking at the human body. We will be looking closely at what different body parts are called, where they are in our body and how we use our senses to understand the world. We will also look at seasonal changes and observe outside as summer ends and we go into autumn.
In Geography, we will be learning about our local area and exploring human and physical features.
In PE, we will be completing 2 different units to develop our ‘jumping’ and ‘attacking in games.
In Art, we will be working on ‘textiles’ which will involve making our very own puppet on our art day later this half term!
In PSHE and RSHE we will be learning about the school community and respect.
In Computing we will be learning about and making pictograms using technology. We will learn how to make pictograms in our computing day and practice this in our COOL time- choosing our own learning time.
Lastly in RE, we are looking at the religion 'Judaism', exploring our focus question 'Why do Jewish families talk about repentance at New Year?’
We will use our lovely COOL (Choosing Our Own Learning) area to further extend learning, which provides lots of different opportunities for every child's individual interests - including Writing, Reading, Maths, Computing, Construction, Small World, Fine Motor, Investigation, Art, Sand and Water areas.
