This is a mixed Year 1/2 class where we combine teacher-led focused activities with continuous provision to ensure our children are independent learners and problem solvers. We have COOL (choose our own learning) jobs for the children to complete every week alongside focused challenges.
This Autumn term we are focusing on the book 'Man on the Moon: A day in the life of Bob' by Simon Bartram. Our learning across the curriculum will link to the story, which will be revealed slowly. Therefore, we ask that you do not tell your child this half term's text or rush out and buy the book. This is to ensure that learning at Ranelagh continues to be new and exciting and captivates children's interests.
Please look at our Medium Term Plan attached below to see what we will be covering in science, history, RE and art. Any additional learning at home on these objectives is always welcome; just remember to not explore our topic book 'Man on the Moon'!
PE is every Wednesday and Friday. Please ensure your child has a PE kit in school on these days. The PE kit is a t-shirt, shorts and plimsolls or trainers.
We are no longer doing weekly spellings in KS1 so therefore there will be no weekly spelling test. However, each week, a piece of homework will be sent home focusing on your child's phonics/spelling learning that week so it is expected that this will be completed. Homework books will be collected on a Thursday to ensure this is completed.
Please read with your child frequently, at least 3 times per week, and record this in their journals.
Please can you ensure your child has a water bottle in school every day.
