Robins
Welcome to the Robins' Class

This year, your teacher will be Miss Laflin.
Summer 1 in the Robins class! :)
This term in English, we will be starting a new scheme for writing called ‘Ready, Steady, Write!’. We can’t wait to explore some lovely new texts and develop our writing for different purposes, using various grammatical features.
In Maths, we will be working through the 'Place Value' and 'Addition & Subtraction' blocks using our White Rose schemes of work. We will use lots of manipulatives to develop our understanding and will also have lots of opportunities to practise our mental maths.
During our Science lessons, we will be looking at 'Animal and Human needs for survival'. We will revisit the 5 vertebrate anil - mammals, fish, birds, reptiles and amphibians. We will apply our knowledge of these and develop an understanding of what they all need for survival. We will then consider the importance of exercise, food and hygiene for humans in particular.
In Geography, we will be learning about our local area and exploring human and physical features.
In PE, we will be completing 2 different units to develop our ‘health and wellbeing’ and ‘team building’. Health and Wellbeing focuses on developing agility, balance and coordination, whilst team building will develop our listening, communication and teamwork skills.
In Art, we will be working on ‘textiles’ which will involve making our very own puppet!
In PSHE and RSHE we will be learning about the school community and respect.
In Computing we will be learning about and making pictograms using technology.
Lastly in RE, we are looking at the religion 'Judaism', exploring our focus question 'Why do Jewish families talk about repentance at New Year?’
We will use our lovely COOL (Choosing Our Own Learning) area to further extend learning, which provides lots of different opportunities for every child's individual interests - including Writing, Reading, Maths, Computing, Construction, Small World, Fine Motor, Investigation, Art, Sand and Water areas.
