Cross Country - Royal Hospital School March 24

 

Well done to all of the children that took part in the annual cross country event at the Royal Hospital School on Wednesday 20th March. along with schools from across Suffolk . They had brilliant weather and everyone had such an amazing approach to it all. One pupil said,  "If I keep trying, I will succeed!"

 

In the boys race, leading Ranelagh was Ismael who came in at 22nd place.  In the girls race,  leading Ranelagh was Suzanna who came in at 69th place. 

Ranelagh Wins Gold for the 2nd Year!

 

We are delighted to announce that we have achieved the School Games Gold Mark Award for the 2nd year running! The School Games Mark is a Government led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success.

 

We are extremely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of school sport, including our sports leaders, those who take part in extra curricular activities and inter competitions.

Key Achievements in 2022/23:

 

  • Children in Years 1 to 6 continued to access regular exercise through ‘The Daily Mile’ challenge.
  • A range of before school and after school activities were available:
    • Before school Hip hop sessions, twice weekly, for children in year 1 to 6.
    • Before/ after school sports clubs, four weekly sessions, for children in Years 1 to 6 in a range of sports including: Multisport, Basketball, Gymnastics, Athletics, cricket, girl’s football and boy’s football.
    • Lunchtime sports clubs were available three lunchtimes a week from the spring term for years 1-6.
  • Intra competitions regularly happened at school across each phases.
  • Inter competitions continued to happen throughout the whole year. The children took part in the following events outside of school:
    • Year 3/4 basketball tournament
    • Year 5/6 football tournament
    • Year 5/6 basketball tournament
    • Year 4/5/6 tag rugby
    • Year 5/6 cricket
    • Year 3/4 girls football festival
    • Year 5/6 netball
    • Year 4/5/6 cross country
  • In conjunction with Premier Education, we ran activity clubs for children in the Christmas, Easter and summer holidays for our disadvantaged children.
  • Ranelagh achieved the ‘Gold’ sports mark for two consecutive years.
  • Staff CPD was a priority, with gymnastics and dance training taken place in school.
  • A sporting hero visited the school and took part in a sponsored event with the children- Paralympic champion Sean Rose
  • Children across the school benefitted from additional enrichment sessions’ via Premier Education where they tried new sports such as archery and fencing.
  • EYFS accessed a dedicated morning of physical development activities led by Premier Education.
