Coin Collecting
Do you ever take the time to look at the coins in your money box? If you are lucky you may have a really rare coin and make a small fortune?
The Royal mint have released some very special coins. The first ever coins to use augmented reality! They also feature some fantastic dinosaur pictures on them.
Take a look at the Royal Mint website and investigate the different coin collections there have been. My favourite is the Paddington Bear collection.
Your task is to think about a person or character you feel is worthy of having their own coin collection minted. It could be a famous explorer, footballer, artist, musician or possibly someone closer to you.
Your task is to design the coins and write about why your choice is worthy of their own collection. You can also research background information about your choice. Look at the specifications - which metal will you choose for your coin? How will the designs differ for the 10p, 20p and 50p?
Maybe you will design your own coin for yourself.
Can you imagine how cool it would be to spend coins that you feature on?
