ELSA

What is ELSA?

ELSA support, short for Emotional Literacy Support Assistant support, involves trained professionals who help children and young people improve their emotional wellbeing and literacy skills. ELSAs work with individuals or small groups to promote positive mental health, social skills and overall emotional literacy.

Why use ELSA?

ELSA provides support for a range of need including loss and bereavement, self-esteem, social skills, friendship issues, managing strong feelings, conflict, emotional regulation and growth mindset.

How do we use ELSA in our school?

Our trained ELSA practitioner works with both individuals and small groups towards achieving and agreed target/goal based on their individual needs. ELSA intervention should be a short term focus intervention with clear aims. The impact of this intervention is measured by the class teacher, ELSA and child.
