History
At Ranelagh a broad range of History is taught across the school in line with the national curriculum.
We believe in delivering history lessons that focus on: substantive knowledge, disciplinary knowledge and methods of enquiry.
Our planning is designed to create cross-curricular links to allow our pupils to build on previous learning and ensure that they have a sound understanding across the curriculum.
We also bolster learning through themed history days, which provide something for children to remember and a link with the history being learnt.
Geography
At Ranelagh we intend to equip children with the geographical knowledge to develop their skills through studies of places, people and natural and human environments.
We believe in delivering geography lessons that focus on: locational knowledge, place knowledge and human and physical geography.
We develop our pupil’s understanding of the world by: comparing locations; investigating; researching different sources; writing and talking about places; asking and answering questions.
We also seek to inspire our pupil’s geographical understanding of physical and natural features by exploring the geography of our local area.
