What is a preposition?
Prepositions are words that tell us where or when something happens.
The book is on the table. (Where? On the table.)
She arrived before lunch. (When? Before lunch.)
Place: in, on, under, behind, between, next to
Time: before, after, during, at, on
Direction: to, from, into, out of
Example sentences:
The cat is under the chair.
The ball is between the two boxes.
The clock is on the wall.
We go to school in the morning.
My birthday is on Monday.
The train leaves at 3 o’clock.
She walked to the park.
The bird flew into the tree.
He ran from the house.
