Zones of Regulation

We teach Zone of Regulation to give our pupils a shared langauge and tools for self-regulation, helping the to identify their emotions and use strategies to manage their feelings and energy levels. This is includes 'checking in' using Zones of Regulation at the start of the school days so teachers can best assess their classes readiness to learn.

Zones of Regulation focuses on 'emotion identification' to help children to learn to recognise their feelings and energy levels, associated them with four colour-coded zones.

Blue Zone - sad, tired, sick, bored

Green Zone - calm, happy, focused, ready to learn

Red Zone - angry, terrified, panicked, explosive

Yellow Zone - excited, worried, frustrated, silly

We have a number of 'regulation stations' spaced around the school, as well as 'zones baskets' for individual pupils were it is part of a personalised provision plan.
