At Ranelagh Primary our whole curriculum is built around good quality text. In English our lessons are planned using The Power Of Reading Project sequences from The Centre for Literacy in Primary Education.
We believe that all pupils have the right to be fluent, confident readers, who are able to successfully read, comprehend and enjoy a wide range of texts.
We want pupils to develop a love of reading, a good knowledge of a range of authors and texts, and to be able to understand more about the world in which they live, through the knowledge they gain from texts.
By the end of their time at Ranelagh Primary School, all children should be able to read fluently, and with confidence, in any subject.
We understand the importance of parents and carers in supporting their children to develop both word reading and comprehension skills, and so we want to encourage a home-school partnership which enables parents and carers to understand how to enhance the skills being taught in school through good quality texts.

In this lyrical adventure 12-year-old Yanka has always felt out of place in her small village. When she wakes up to find that her legs have become bear legs, she sets off into the forest to discover who she is, on a journey that takes her from icy rivers to smouldering mountains, with an ever-growing band of misfits and friends alongside her.
